Sony FX30/FX3 Cinerig Top Handle Edition (OMNIA Version)
OMNIA, built around the Sony XLR-H1 Top Handle.
Everything you need to run a Sony FX3 or FX30 with the Sony XLR-H1 Top Handle Unit on an OMNIA cinema rig — OMNIA chassis, Top Plate Extension, XLR Handle Adaptor Kit and the extra screws that hold it all together. Pop the handle off in 60 seconds and you're back to a universal OMNIA that fits every other supported camera in your kit.
This edition is the standard OMNIA Universal Cinema Rig plus the hardware needed to mount a Sony XLR-H1 Top Handle Unit directly above the camera's hot shoe. Unbolt the XLR Adaptor Kit and the Top Plate Extension stays in place as a flat cheese plate — the OMNIA chassis is completely unchanged and still fits every supported mirrorless body.
Handcrafted in Melbourne, Australia from aircraft-grade aluminium. Not 3D-printed. Not stamped sheet metal. Machined, anodised, and assembled by the same team that designed it.
Cage Compatibility (not included)
- Smallrig 4183
- 8Sinn Cage

Why this rig exists
The Sony XLR-H1 is a serious handle — professional-grade audio preamps, phantom power, dual XLR inputs, studio-quality capsule. It's built for the hot shoe of the FX3, FX30, a7S III and a7 IV. But the moment you put any of those bodies into a cinema rig, the hot shoe disappears under a top plate, and the XLR-H1 has nowhere to live.
This edition solves that. The Top Plate Extension sits above the OMNIA chassis. The XLR Handle Adaptor Kit bolts to the extension and re-exposes the hot shoe at the correct height for the XLR-H1. You keep your XLR-H1 audio workflow, you keep your OMNIA V-Mount power and ARCA quick-release, and you keep the option to strip it down to a universal rig whenever you're shooting a different body.
Power where you need it
The integrated battery plate runs V-Mount or Gold Mount packs. Four D-Tap outputs feed monitors, wireless video, the XLR-H1 if you run it off external power, follow-focus motors, or anything else on the build — 10 amps max across the four outputs combined. A recessed Master Power switch isolates the battery completely when you're done for the day.
An optional D-Tap to USB-C right-angle cable powers the FX3 or FX30 body directly from the V-Mount — no dummy battery, no second power source.
A built-in LCD readout shows system voltage, so you always know where the battery sits. No more voltage anxiety in the middle of a take.
Built to last a career, not a shoot
OMNIA is machined from 6061-T6 aluminium and hard-anodised in one of five finishes. The structural parts are solid metal — not plastic, not 3D-printed composites. Every rig is built, tested, and inspected in our Melbourne workshop before it ships.

Thinking about CineBack?
Camera Foundry's CineBack range is camera-specific — a different CineBack for each body, each needing its own cage, and no dedicated XLR-H1 integration path. OMNIA is universal, ships as a complete XLR-ready kit, and reverts to a standard rig for every other camera you own.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Sony XLR-H1 Top Handle included?
No. The XLR-H1 is a Sony product and is not in the box. This edition includes the aluminium adaptor kit that lets the XLR-H1 mount correctly on top of the OMNIA. Buy the XLR-H1 separately from Sony or a reseller like Amazon.
Can I remove the top handle assembly?
Yes — in about a minute. Unbolt the XLR Adaptor Kit from the OMNIA Top Plate Extension and the chassis reverts to a standard OMNIA Universal Cinema Rig. The Top Plate Extension can stay on as a flat cheese plate for mounting monitors, lights or wireless receivers.
Will it fit cameras other than the FX3 and FX30?
Yes. The OMNIA chassis underneath is the universal one. Swap the ARCA base plate to any supported Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Nikon or Fujifilm mirrorless camera and the same rig works. The XLR Adaptor Kit itself is designed for the Sony XLR-H1 on the FX3/FX30 hot shoe specifically — on other cameras, leave it off and use the rig as a universal OMNIA.
Do I need a separate cage?
No. OMNIA is a complete cinema rig — the chassis is the cage. You don't need a SmallRig, 8Sinn, SHAPE or Tilta cage on top. If you prefer to run a cage around the body as well, the SmallRig 4183 and 8Sinn FX3/FX30 cages are tested compatible.
How does OMNIA power my camera?
The V-Mount or Gold Mount battery plate feeds four D-Tap outputs for accessories (monitor, wireless video, lights, motors) with a 10A total limit. To power the FX3 or FX30 directly, use the optional D-Tap to USB-C right-angle cable — it runs from a D-Tap into the camera's USB-C port. One battery runs your entire build.
Will the XLR-H1 audio quality be affected?
No. The XLR Adaptor Kit mounts the XLR-H1 at the correct height so the handle's hot-shoe connector seats fully into the camera's multi-interface shoe. Audio signal and control remain native — the adaptor is mechanical, not electrical.
Where is OMNIA made?
OMNIA is designed in Melbourne, Australia. CNC machining is partner-manufactured to our specification; anodising, assembly, testing and quality control all happen in our Melbourne workshop before shipping.
What if I'm unhappy with it?
Warranty returns are accepted within 12 months for manufacturing defects. Change-of-mind returns are not accepted — we can't resell a used rig at full retail, and we prefer to keep the upfront price low rather than build returns overhead into it. Read our full refund policy before ordering.
How long does shipping take?
Free DHL Express from Melbourne. Typical delivery: 2–5 business days to Australia, US, UK, EU, Canada, NZ, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong. Slightly longer to remote destinations. Tracking email sent as soon as we dispatch.
